Loraine Perkins
I began my career in Health & Safety in 1996. The turning point in my career was working alongside one of the UK’s foremost Health & Safety practitioners, specialising in “working with computers”, whose work helped shape what became the Health & Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992. Through this mentoring, I developed a deep and lasting expertise in DSE assessments and ergonomics, believing compliance should never be a tick-box exercise, it should actively improve comfort, wellbeing and everyday working life.
Ruth Nicholls
I graduated from university with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Biological Sciences and spent 10 years in the field of scientific testing. I then spent a further 10 years working in the pharmaceutical industry, taking on a training role later in this career. A career change led me into the world of Health & Safety, and I have been part of the senior management team at DSE Assessments Limited since 2009.

With the introduction of HYBRID working into the workplace the best option to manage compliance with DSE expectations efficiently and competently was to approach an external service provider. I attended a DSE Assessor training course with Loraine in February 2023. I had previously completed my DSE Assessor qualification 5 years ago (with a different provider) and was attending Loraine’s course as a refresher, however the two courses were very different experiences with DSE Assessments Ltd coming out on top.
